BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Martin Biron made 40 saves against his former team Friday and recorded his first shutout of the season to give the Philadelphia Flyers a 3-0 win over Buffalo.

Biron played more than eight seasons with Buffalo before being dealt to the Flyers just before the trade deadline in 2007. His shutout Friday -- the first for a Philadelphia goaltender against the Sabres in 15 years -- was also his Biron's 24th NHL career shutout.

Jeff Carter scored twice, helping Philadelphia to its third straight victory. The Flyers have recorded at least one point in five consecutive games.

Ryan Miller stopped 22 of 24 shots for Buffalo, which has lost four in a row.
