PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Elton Brand hit the game-winning field goal with 57.9 seconds to play Friday, lifting the Philadelphia 76ers past the Los Angeles Clippers 89-88.

Brand, who played with the Clippers for seven years before signing with the 76ers prior to this season, scored 17 points. Thaddeus Young also had 17 for Philadelphia, which has won four out of five.

Al Thornton contributed 22 points and nine rebounds for the Clippers, who played shorthanded after Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas were traded during the day to the New York Knicks.

Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins were sent to the Clippers, but they were not yet available.

Los Angeles had an 83-75 lead as the fourth quarter approached its midway point, but the 76ers reduced their deficit to 88-87 with 90 seconds remaining.

Baron Davis then missed a shot for the Clippers and Brand, on Philadelphia's ensuing possession, hit a jumper from the baseline for the final points of the game.

Los Angeles had the ball twice in the final minute but Davis and rookie Eric Gordon both missed shots that would have given the Clippers the lead.
