NEW YORK, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- No. 4 UCLA, down by two at halftime Friday, beat Southern Illinois 77-60 for third place at the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer tournament.
UCLA broke a 48-48 second-half deadlock and used an 18-2 run to pull away from its inspired opponent.
Alfred Aboya finished with 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the winner's effort. Darren Collison scored 17 points and went 3-for-3 on three-pointers, while Josh Shipp totaled 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Bruins (3-1) -- who recovered from a 55-52 upset loss against Michigan Thursday.
SIU was led by Kevin Dillard's 14 points and four rebounds. Tony Boyle scored 10 with three rebounds, and Bryan Mullins added seven points and eight assists for the Salukis (2-2), who were beaten by fifth-ranked Duke Thursday.
