LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant combined for 55 points Tuesday, carrying the Los Angeles Lakers to a 116-109 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Gasol hit a season-high 34 points, while Bryant had 21. Andrew Bynum contributed 18 points and nine rebounds -- making him the eighth-youngest in NBA history to get 1,000 career rebounds -- as Los Angeles improved to 8-1.

The Bulls slipped to 0-4 on the road despite 25 points from Derrick Rose and 23 from Ben Gordon.

The Lakers broke this one open late in the third quarter when Bryant hit a jumper and a three-pointer, Bynum completed a three-point play off a jam and Bryant hit another trey for an 82-65 edge.
