NHL: N.Y. Islanders 2, Vancouver 1 (SO)

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Frans Nielsen scored the lone goal in the shootout Monday to give the New York Islanders a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Joey MacDonald stopped 31-of-32 shots for the Isles, who won their third straight after a three-game losing streak. Doug Weight scored the lone regulation goal for New York.

Roberto Luongo had 34 saves for the Canucks but let in Nielsen's score in the shootout. Pavol Demitra scored the only goal for Vancouver, which had won four of five before Monday.
