NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki scored a season-high 39 points Sunday to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 124-114 overtime win over the New York Knicks.

Jason Terry's jumper created the 112-112 tie with under a minute remaining and that's the way regulation ended. Nowitzki scored seven points in the extra period, including a three-point jumper that gave Dallas a 120-112 advantage with 2:57 left.

Josh Howard scored 31 points, with 14 rebounds and three blocked shots. Terry scored 20 with four steals.

Brandon Bass and James Singleton scored 12 points each and Nowitzki added 15 rebounds for the Mavericks, who snapped a five-game losing streak.

New York was led by Zach Randolph's 27 points and 18 rebounds. Quentin Richardson scored 17 with eight rebounds, while Jamal Crawford and Chris Duhon both scored 16 points in the Knicks' second loss in their last seven outings.
