The victory helped the 36-year-old from India earn $792,500 of the event's $5 million purse. He also became the first golfer to win more than $1 million in a single season on Asian Tour.

"I am a very fortunate to win here," he told reporters. "The golfing gods are on my side so I am breathing much better."

Singh won the tournament after both Harrington and Els missed chances to derail him by failing to make the birdies they needed on the 18th and final hole.

Harrington (70) finished alone in second at 6-under 278.

Els (71) was third at 5-under 279, with Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy (69) and Australian David Gleeson (69) sharing fourth place at 4-under 280.
