COLLEGE PARK, Md., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Obi Egekeze kicked the winning field goal with 1:42 to play Saturday to give the Maryland Terrapins a 17-15 win over No. 17 North Carolina.
Facing a 3rd-and-10 near midfield, Terrapins quarterback Chris Turner hit Ronnie Tyler for 18 yards. Then, facing a 4th-and-5 at the UNC 32, Turner kept it and ran for nine yards. The drive faltered at the nine-yard line, but Egekeze hit a 26-yard field goal.
North Carolina had one last chance to retake the lead but on 3rd-and-22 Cameron Sexton was picked off by Jamari McCollough.
Da'Rel Scott had 129 yards on 29 carries with a touchdown while Davin Meggett added 86 yards on 13 carries with a score for the Terrapins (7-3, 4-2 ACC). Turner was 16-for-31 with 141 yards passing.
Sexton completed 10-of-24 passes for 166 yards and a TD and Cooter Arnold had two catches for 64 yards and a touchdown for the Tar Heels (7-3, 3-3).
