COL FB: Georgia 17, Auburn 13

AUBURN, Ala., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- A last-minute defensive stop Saturday allowed 12th-ranked Georgia to escape with a 17-13 victory against SEC foe Auburn.

With UGA holding its four-point lead and Auburn needing a touchdown to win the game on its last possession with 1:52 remaining, quarterback Kodi Burns threw back-to-back incomplete passes into the end zone from the 14-yard line and Georgia ran out the clock.

UGA quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 15-of-24 passes for 215 yards with two touchdowns.

Running back Knowshon Moreno ran for 131 yards on 22 carries, and wide receiver A.J. Green scored once on five receptions for 81 yards for the Bulldogs (9-2, 6-2 SEC), who finished 5-0 on the road this season.

Burns completed 16-of-30 passes, while running back Mario Fannin ran for a score and caught another for the Tigers (5-6, 2-5), losers in five of their last six outings.

Auburn needs to beat archrival and top-ranked Alabama next Saturday to become bowl-eligible.
