COL BKB: Memphis 90, Fairfield 63

MEMPHIS, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Tyreke Evans scored 19 points Saturday to lead the 12th-ranked Memphis Tigers to a season-opening 90-63 victory over Fairfield.

Shawn Taggart had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers, who are coming off a solid 2007-08 campaign, which saw Memphis win 38 games against just two defeats -- including a loss in last season's national title game against Kansas.

Doneal Mack had 14 points for Memphis.

Warren Edney scored 24 points and Jonathan Han scored 18 for Fairfield, which was 14-16 last season.
