Tommie Harris' wife dies

ATLANTA, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Johan Hedberg allowed only two power-play goals on 29 shots Friday, carrying the Atlanta Thrashers to their fifth straight victory -- 3-2 over Carolina.
Marty Reasoner, Eric Perrin and Slava Kozlov scored for the Thrashers, who moved within two points of the Hurricanes for second place in the Southeast Division.
Carolina, losers of three in a row, got goals from Rod Brind'Amour and Tuomo Ruutu. Cam Ward made 22 saves.
Reasoner gave Atlanta a lead it would never relinquish at 9:41 of the opening period by teaming with Colby Armstrong on an odd-man rush.
Atlanta's five-game winning streak is its longest since March 2007. The Thrashers have faced Carolina twice this season and won both outings.
