
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Sophomore forward DeJuan Blair scored 17 points with 11 rebounds Friday night, leading sixth-ranked Pittsburgh's 86-63 rout of outmanned Farleigh-Dickinson.
Pitt made quick work out of FDU by racing to 45-29 halftime lead, and increased it to 55-31 before the losers finally called a timeout with 15:29 remaining in the final 20 minutes.
Pitt's biggest lead was the game's final score.
Point guard Levance Fields had 15 points and eight assists, and forward Sam Young also scored 15 points with four rebounds for the Panthers (1-0), whose 2007-08 season ended with a double-digit loss to Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Guard Eric Moore led FDU with 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
Forward John Galvin scored 14 points with four rebounds, while fellow forward Alvin Mofunanya added 13 points and three rebounds for the Knights (0-1), who sank to 5-59 all-time against Big East Conference schools.
