NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- New Orleans Saints cornerback Mike McKenzie suffered a fractured right kneecap during Sunday's loss to Atlanta and will be on injured reserve.
McKenzie injured his right patella trying to defend a pass intended for Atlanta's Michael Jenkins. He registered two tackles in the game before being carted off the field.
McKenzie had 22 tackles and an interception in seven games in his fifth year with the Saints. The 10-year pro has 27 interceptions and four touchdowns in his career, which includes parts of six seasons with the Green Bay Packers.
New Orleans Coach Sean Payton also revealed in a Monday news conference that starting fullback Mike Karney suffered a strained medial collateral ligament and the knee injury will mean Karney will be out 2-to-4 weeks.
