LOS ANGELES, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Anze Kopitar had a goal and two assists Saturday night and the Los Angeles Kings held off a third-period St. Louis comeback to beat the Blues 5-3.
Alexander Frolov, Tom Preissing, Drew Doughty and Dustin Brown each had a goal and an assist for the Kings.
Kopitar put the Kings in front 1-0 at 3:01 of the first period with a power-play goal, assisted by Brown and Doughty. Second period goals by Frolov and Preissing put the Kings ahead 3-0 -- but the Blues scored three times in the third on goals by Andy McDonald, Patrick Berglund and Brad Boyes.
Doughty's power-play goal at 11:58 of the third turned out to be the game winner, and the Kings got an insurance goal on an empty-netter by Brown with 1:11 left to play.
Erik Ersberg stopped 24-of-27 shots for the Kings, who have split their last four games.
Manny Legace let in four goals on 30 shots for the Blues in his first game since Oct. 24, when he was injured tripping on a carpet that had been placed on the ice for former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin to drop the first puck at a Blues-Kings game in St. Louis.
