CARSON, Calif., Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Javier Morales had a goal and an assist Saturday to help Real Salt Lake play Chivas USA to a 2-2 tie and advance to the MLS Western Conference Final Series.

RSL had beaten Chivas 1-0 in the opener of their semifinal series, so the 2-2 tie gave them a 3-2 victory in the home-and-home total goals series -- and an appointment with the winner of the New York-Houston semifinals in the conference finals. The Red Bulls and the Dynamo are set to decide their series Sunday.

Sacha Kljestan scored for Chivas USA on a penalty kick and Dema Kovalenko tied the game 1-1 10 minutes later with his first goal of the playoffs. Morales scored in the 77th minute to seal the series victory for RSL.
