Alabama again No. 1 in coaches poll

ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Alabama retained the top spot when the USA Today college football coaches poll was released Sunday.

The Crimson Tide (10-0) stayed unbeaten with a 27-21 overtime victory over reigning national champion and SEC rival LSU.

Texas Tech (10-0) supplanted Penn State at No. 2 after walloping fellow Big 12 member Oklahoma State 56-20, while PSU suffered a 24-23 last second loss to Iowa.

Both the Crimson Tide and the Red Raiders are idle Saturday.

The rest of this week's top 10 are: Florida (8-1), Oklahoma (9-1), Texas (9-1), Southern California (8-1), Utah (10-0), the Nittany Lions, Boise State (9-0) and Ohio State (8-2).

Georgia Tech, Maryland, California, West Virginia, and Northwestern fell out of the poll following losses this week.
