ANAHEIM, Calif., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Mark Parrish produced a hat trick in his season debut Friday, lifting the Dallas Stars to a 5-2 victory over Anaheim.
Marty Turco, who has given up an average of more than four goals a game this season, made 28 saves in one of his best outings of the year.
It was Parrish, however, who stole the show for a team that made the Western Conference finals a year ago but which has struggled out of the gate this season.
Parrish, in his 10th NHL campaign, signed a one-year deal this week after scoring 16 goals in 66 games with Minnesota last season. The Stars are the fifth NHL team for which he has played.
Parrish gave Dallas a 2-0 lead with a power-play goal midway through the first period and then scored twice in a span of 4:39 of the second.
After allowing four goals on 13 shots, Anaheim goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere was lifted for Jonas Hiller.
Anaheim had a three-game winning streak snapped and Dallas ended a two-game skid.
