NHL: Boston 3, Buffalo 1

BOSTON, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Chuck Kobasew's first goal this season was a game-winner Saturday night when the Boston Bruins skated to a 3-1 win over Buffalo for their third win in a row.

The right wing snapped a 1-1 tie at 2:47 of the second period after an assist by left wing Shawn Thornton. Kobasew also recorded an assist on Dennis Wideman's goal at 17:36 of the first period.

Marc Savard scored once and goalie Manny Fernandez was credited with 32 saves on 33 shots for the Bruins, who have won five of six.

Center Tim Connolly scored midway through the first period for Buffalo and goaltender Ryan Miller was beaten three times on 40 shots in the Sabres' second straight loss.

There were no power play goals on five combined chances.
