BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Jason Williams
' overtime goal Friday night lifted the Atlanta Thrashers to a 5-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
The right wing capitalized on a power-play chance 48 seconds into the extra period after Ilya Kovalchuk's shot failed to go past Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller.
Williams also scored in the first period. Center Bryan Little had two goals and one assist and Todd White scored once.
Slava Kozlov had three assists and Kovalchuk had two, while Thrashers' goalie Johan Hedberg yielded four goals on 32 shots.
Buffalo got one goal each from Clarke MacArthur, Ales Kotalik (power play), Maxim Afinogenov and center Todd White (power play), whose fourth goal this season created a 4-4 tie 8:00 of the third period.
Miller was beaten five times on 26 shots for the Sabres, who had won their previous two contests.
Both teams went 2-for-3 on the power play.
