EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Devin Harris overshadowed Allen Iverson's Pistons' debut by scoring 38 points Friday, leading New Jersey to a 103-96 win over Detroit.
Iverson, traded from Denver to the Pistons during the first week of the season, scored 24 points. He had four turnovers, however, and the Pistons lost for the first time this year after opening with four victories.
Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb were dealt from Detroit to Denver in exchange for the high-scoring Iverson.
New Jersey trailed by 13 points after one period but rallied to take a two-point edge into the fourth quarter. The Nets then survived a racehorse final period in which the teams combined to score 57 points.
Harris scored 20 of his points at the foul line in 24 attempts. Vince Carter and Josh Boone added 18 each for the Nets, who halted a two-game skid.
Richard Hamilton delivered 22 for the Pistons.
