PITTSBURGH, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Two second-period scores from Petr Sykora gave Pittsburgh a five-goal lead Thursday and the Penguins held on to defeat Edmonton 5-4.

Sheldon Souray's shorthanded goal brought the Oilers within one with 11:01 still to play, but they could not get another one past Marc-Andre Fleury.

Pittsburgh won its second straight after dropping three in a row.

Miroslav Satan also scored twice for the Penguins, the first goal coming just 46 seconds into the game. He gave Pittsburgh a 3-0 lead 7:05 deep into the second, after which Sykora produced two goals in a span of 1:39.

Edmonton then started a comeback when Fernando Pisani scored on a backhander with 1:27 to go in the second. Tom Gilbert, Ales Hemsky and Souray added goals in the third period before Fleury finally shut the door.

Mathieu Garon gave up five goals on 20 shots before being replaced by Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers.
