Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Major League Soccer Tuesday named the Chicago Fire's Jon Busch Goalkeeper of the Year.
The 32-year-old Busch had 13 wins and 10 shutouts. He played in all 30 regular-season matches, completing each one. His goals-against average was 1.10.
Busch led Columbus' Will Hesner and New England's Mat Reis in the voting for top goalkeeper.
"Its exciting to win this award and a little bit of a shock," Busch said. "I have to give all the credit to the guys in front of me all season. They did a tremendous job and they deserve as much credit for this award as I do."
Busch joined the Fire in 2007 and was Matt Pickens' backup before getting the starting job this season.
Chicago finished in second place in the Eastern Conference and entered the playoffs against New England. The teams battled to a 0-0 tie last week and will meet in Chicago Thursday.
