Quinn to start for Browns Thursday

CLEVELAND, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn will make his debut as an NFL starter Thursday against the Denver Broncos.

The Browns announced Quinn's starting role Monday, replacing Derek Anderson, last year's Pro Bowl selection, after Cleveland went 3-5 in the first half of the season.

Anderson has completed just 49.8 percent of his passes (121-of-243) for 1,454 yards with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. Cleveland is ranked 30th in the league in total offense.

Quinn, a Notre Dame star, was selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2007 draft after Cleveland traded Dallas their second-round selection (36th overall) in that draft and their first-round selection in the 2008 draft.

Quinn, a four-year starter at Notre Dame, had 929 completions, 11,762, passing yards and 95 touchdowns for the Fighting Irish.
