
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points and Jason Terry had 19 Saturday night to lead the Dallas Mavericks past Minnesota 95-85.
Nowitzki also pulled down six rebounds. Josh Howard scored 14 points and Jason Kidd finished with nine points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Mavericks, who have split their first two games of the season.
Rashad McCants had 18 points and Al Jefferson finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds for Minnesota, which also has split its first two games.
The Mavericks led 53-49 at the half, but the Timberwolves opened the second half with a 9-2 run and led by three points late in the third quarter, before Dallas went on a 9-0 run to take control -- with Nowitzki scoring fie of those points. The Mavs then put together a 13-5 run to open the fourth period.
