RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- The Edmonton Oilers, led by Ethan Moreau's goal with 1:28 left in the third period, skated to a 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday.
The left wing also scored on an empty-netter with just over 30 seconds left in regulation and, during an aggressive effort, he logged 19 minutes in penalties.
Center Shawn Horcoff had a goal (power play) and an assist, while goalie Dwayne Roloson was credited with 33 saves on 34 shots for the Oilers, who ended their five-game losing streak.
Carolina's lone goal was scored by left wing Ray Whitney at 6:35 of the first period after assists by Tim Gleason and Tuomo Ruutu.
Goaltender Cam Ward was beaten twice on 31 shots for the Hurricanes, losers in three of their last five games.
The Oilers went 1-for-3 on the power play. Carolina was 0-for-6.
