NBA: Detroit 117, Washington 109

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Richard Hamilton had 24 points and Rasheed Wallace had 17 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks, to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 117-109 win over Washington.

Walter Herrmann added 16 points for the Pistons.

Antawn Jamison had 24 points and eight rebounds for the Wizards and Nick Young added 23 points and Caron Butler 21 in defeat.

Jump shots by Butler and Juan Dixon put the Wizards within 89-87 with eight minutes left, but then the Pistons pulled away with a 7-1 spurt.
