
DALLAS, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has a broken rib, but still hopes to play in Sunday's game against the New York Giants, the team said.
The Dallas Morning News reported the injury Tuesday. The injury caused Witten to leave Sunday's 13-9 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Pro Bowl tight end came back on to the field in the second half, but was ineffective before being sidelined for the remainder of the game. Witten has not missed a game since his rookie year.
The Cowboys are without quarterback Tony Romo (finger), safety Roy Williams (forearm), cornerback Terence Newman (sports hernia), and suspended cornerback Adam Jones. Dallas also could be be playing Sunday without cornerback Anthony Henry (qaudriceps).
