IRVING, Texas, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Two field goals by placekicker Nick Folk Sunday afternoon helped the Dallas Cowboys escape with a 13-9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Dallas offense continued its struggles in the absence of injured starting quarterback Tony Romo (thumb).
After spotting Tampa Bay a 6-0 first-quarter advantage, Dallas grabbed a 10-6 halftime lead and was able to withstand a late push despite Tampa Bay converting two fourth-down plays in the closing minutes.
Brad Johnson threw one touchdown pass while completing 19-of-33 passes for 122 yards without an interception.
The scoring pass went to recently acquired wide-out Roy Williams just before halftime.
Marion Barber gained 71 yards on 25 carries for the Cowboys, who had lost three of their previous four outings.
Tampa Bay's Matt Bryant kicked three field goals.
Quarterback Jeff Garcia went 28-for-44 for 228 yards, and running back Earnest Graham was held to 42 yards on 17 carries for the Buccaneers, who had won five of six.
