DENVER, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Peter Budaj was perfect after surrendering an early goal Thursday, allowing the Colorado Avalanche to roll to a 4-1 victory over Edmonton.
Colorado has won four straight after dropping its first three games of the season.
Budaj was in goal for those three losses and struggled while allowing an average of more than four goals a game. After sitting out two contests, Budaj has returned to win two in a row.
He made 25 saves and kept the Oilers in check after giving up a power-play goal to Shawn Horcoff 3:40 into the second period.
Colorado then scored three times in a span of just over six minutes to take control. Ian Laperriere tied it with 7:22 to play in the second, Paul Stastny put the Avalanche in front with a power-play goal and Cody McLeod scored late in the period to make it 3-1.
Mathieu Garon allowed four goals on just 22 shots. Edmonton has dropped two straight after opening its season with four straight wins.
