UNIONDALE, N.Y., Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Loui Eriksson scored two of Dallas' three first-period goals Thursday and the Stars went on to defeat the New York Islanders 5-3.

Dallas took a four-goal lead into the final period, thanks in part to a goal and four assists from Mike Ribeiro. The Stars had lost three of their previous four games.

Marty Turco made 24 saves in the win after being removed from goal during Wednesday's loss to New Jersey.

The Islanders, who have lost three out of four, got a goal and two assists from Mark Streit. Rick DiPietro surrendered five goals on 29 shots.

Eriksson scored on a tip-in 3:30 into the opening period, Brenden Morrow got a slapshot past DiPietro midway through the first, and Eriksson scored again on the power play with 1:38 remaining to make it 3-0.
