Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 23 shots Wednesday and recorded the 39th shutout of his 13-year career in bringing Chicago a 3-0 win over Edmonton.
Edmonton suffered its first loss of the season after opening the year with four victories. The Oilers had been trying for their first five-game winning streak to start a season since 1985-86.
Patrick Sharp scored the only goal the Blackhawks needed just 2:36 into the first period on the power play. It was his fifth of the year.
Brent Seabrook added a shorthanded goal with 1:25 to play in the first and Aaron Johnson made it 3-0 midway through the second.
Dwayne Roloson stopped 27 of 30 shots for the Oilers.
