COLUMBIA, S.C., Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Charles Scott ran for two TDs while Andrew Hatch threw for another to lead the 14th-ranked LSU Tigers to a 24-17 win over South Carolina Saturday.

Scott made the winning score late in the fourth quarter, netting 61 yards on 16 carries. Teammate Keiland Williams got 72 yards on 15 carries. Hatch completed only 2-of-3 passes in limited action, but threw the game-tying touchdown pass late in the third quarter to Richard Dickson.

Jarrett Lee started as quarterback and completed 16-of-26 pass attempts for 189 yards, giving up one interception.

The Tigers (5-1, 3-1) victory came after off their first loss of the season, a 51-21 beating by the Florida Gators.

Stephen Garcia, a redshirt freshman, made his first start for the Gamecocks. He threw for 215 yards and a score on 14-of-26 pass attempts, but was intercepted late in the game.

Mike Davis ran for a TD but gained only 23 yards for the Gamecocks, who were held to 39 yards rushing.
