SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Dan Boyle scored 1:25 into overtime to lift the San Jose Sharks to a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers Saturday in San Jose, Calif.

Boyle added a pair of assists as the Sharks downed the Flyers, who are 0-6 with a pair of ties in their last eight games against the Sharks. Jonathan Cheechoo and Christian Ehrhoff both tallied a goal and an assist for San Jose while Evgeni Nabokov allowed four goals on 17 shots.

The Flyers, meanwhile, continued a tough start to the new season, going winless (0-3-2) in their first five games, the first time that's happened since the 1999-2000 campaign. Daniel Briere scored twice for Philadelphia, Jeff Carter had a goal and an assist, and Mike Knuble and Kimmo Timonen each collected two assists.

In the extra session, Joe Thornton sent the puck across the slot to Boyle, sneaking in from the right point, and the defenseman slipped it past Flyers goalie Antero Niittymaki.
