TORONTO, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Rohan Ricketts scored twice in the first half Saturday to lead Toronto FC to a 3-2 win over the Chicago Fire in a crucial Major League Soccer contest.
The win helped Toronto maintain its slim playoff hopes.
Even if Toronto (9-12-8) is still alive after Saturday's late games, it needs a victory in its last regular season contest at San Jose next Saturday to have a realistic shot at the playoffs.
The Reds will be mathematically eliminated if both Kansas City and New York win their respective games Saturday night.
Chicago (12-10-7), which got goals from Diego Gutierrez in the 12th minute and Cuauhtemoc Blanco in the 59th minute, had a chance to wrap up home field in the first round of the playoffs but will have to wait until Thursday against New York to secure second place in the Eastern Conference.
