TUSCALOOSA, Ala., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- John Parker Wilson had two first-half touchdown passes and second-ranked Alabama, which led 24-3, held on for a 24-20 win Saturday over Mississippi.
The Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0 SEC) built a 21-point halftime lead and watched Ole Miss (3-4, 1-3) reel off 17 straight points in the second half.
Ole Miss, which beat No. 7 Florida earlier, had one last chance to pull off its second upset of a ranked SEC foe on the road this season, taking possession down four points at its own 24 with 3:03 to play.
The Rebels, who posted a 31-30 win at Florida on Sept. 27, reached the Alabama 48 with a first down with just under two minutes to play. But Jevan Snead's fourth-down pass was incomplete.
Snead threw for 192 yards with a touchdown on 6-of-31 completions and Wilson completed 16-of-25 passes for 219 yards.
