TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Trent Hunter scored his fourth goal of the season 51 seconds into overtime Thursday, giving the New York Islanders a 4-3 win over Tampa Bay.
The Lighting remained winless in four games, although the fans at the St. Pete Times Forum were more interested in following Game 5 of the American League Championship Series that saw Tampa Bay trying to advance to the World Series.
Tampa Bay overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period to earn a point, but Hunter came through to prevent Lightning Coach Barry Melrose from picking up his first victory.
New York continued to play without star goaltender Rick DiPietro, who is recovering from hip surgery. Joey MacDonald, making his fourth straight start, stopped 33 shots for his fifth career win.
