NHL: Minnesota 6, Florida 2

SUNRISE, Fla., Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Mikko Koivu had a goal and four assists Thursday to help keep Minnesota unbeaten with a 6-2 blasting of Florida.

The five-point game was a career best for Koivu. Antti Miettinen contributed two goals and Niklas Backstrom made 24 saves as part of the Wild's third win in as many outings.

Florida's Tomas Vokoun allowed four goals on 22 shots over the first two periods and was replaced in the third by Craig Anderson, who gave up two goals on 12 shots.

Minnesota took a 1-0 lead into the second period, during which the teams combined for five goals.

Koivu's goal came after he had already picked up his four assists. He wristed a shot over the glove of Anderson to account for the final score.

The game featured multiple fights in the first period. The teams combined for 20 penalty minutes in the stanza.

Minnesota has beaten Florida seven straight times, a streak dating to 2001. The Wild remained perfect this season when defending the power play, having turned away all 12 opportunities.
