CHICAGO, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Martin Havlat had a goal and an assist Wednesday, helping Chicago win its first game of the season -- 4-1 over Phoenix.
Patrick Sharp, Brian Campbell and Colin Fraser also scored for the Blackhawks, who had started the season 0-2-1. Nikolai Khabibulin picked up the victory with 29 saves.
The Coyotes lost for the first time in three games. They had been trying for their first 3-0 start in four years.
Chicago overcame a 1-0 deficit on Havlat's goal at 8:25 of the second. He lifted a backhander past Ilya Bryzgalov.
Sharp produced the go-ahead goal in the final minute of the period on a rebound off a shot by Duncan Keith.
Chicago winger Ben Eager returned to the lineup after serving a three-game suspension for swinging his stick in an Oct. 2 exhibition game against Dallas.
