NEW YORK, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was named NFC player of the week Wednesday for games played in the sixth week of the 2008 NFL season.
The eight-year veteran completed 26-of-30 passes for 320 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Saints' 34-3 rout of the Oakland Raiders.
Brees completed his first 16 attempts and surpassed the 300-yard plateau for a fourth consecutive contest. It was his seventh player of the week award.
Also earning NFC honors were St. Louis' safety Oshiomogho Atogwe (defense) and Arizona wide receiver Sean Morey (special teams).
Atogwe raced 75 yards on a late second-quarter fumble return, helping the Rams record a 19-17 victory against the Washington Redskins, their first win this season.
Morey scored after blocking a punt in lifting the Cardinals to a 30-24 win over Dallas. He finished with a career-high four special teams tackles.
