NEW YORK, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Aaron Voros had two goals and an assist Monday to lead the unbeaten New York Rangers to a 4-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils.
Earlier Monday, 19-year-old Rangers prospect Alexei Cherepanov died while playing for Avangard Omsk of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League. Cherepanov collapsed on the bench in the third period.
The Rangers have started the season 5-0 for the first time since the 1983-84 season.
Brandon Dubinsky scored and added a pair of assists for New York. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 25-of-26 shots to record his fourth victory.
John Madden scored the lone goal for the Devils, who had won the first two games of the season. Martin Brodeur gave up three goals on 23 shots faced in the loss.
