Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- San Diego's Philip Rivers tossed three touchdown passes Sunday, leading the Chargers to a 30-10 whipping of the New England Patriots.
Rivers passed for 306 yards, connecting on 18-of-27 throws. Vincent Jackson, Antonio Gates and Malcolm Floyd caught the scoring passes.
Jackson finished with five receptions for 134 yards.
Matt Cassel completed 22-of-38 passes for 203 yards for New England (3-2) Cassel was picked off once and lost a fumble.
Wes Welker caught nine passes for 73 yards and Sammy Morris ran for a score for the Patriots.
