MLS: Los Angeles 3, Colorado 1

CARSON, Calif., Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Brandon McDonald's goal in the 80th minute turned out to be the match-winner Sunday in a 3-2 Los Angeles Galaxy victory over Colorado.

McDonald fired a 40-yard shot into the Colorado goal, putting his team up 3-1.

Eight minutes later, the Rapids' Tom McManus completed the scoring.

Los Angeles, winning for just the second time in its last 16 matches, also got a goal by Edson Buddle and benefited from an own goal by a Colorado defender.

Corey Gibbs scored the other Colorado goal.

Los Angeles is 8-12-8 and the Rapids 10-14-7.

Both teams still have a chance to make the league playoffs.
