BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Brian McBride scored twice Sunday for the Chicago Fire, which earned a Major League Soccer playoff berth with a 2-2 tie against the Columbus Crew.

McBride got the first and last goals of the match, drilling the ball just inside the right post in the 13th minute and firing a shot through traffic with 11 minutes to play.

In between, Columbus had goals by Eddie Gaven and Guillermo Barros Schletto.

The Crew had already gained the playoffs by clinching first place in the Eastern Conference.
