MOSCOW, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Serbia's Jelena Jankovic beat Russia's Vera Zvonareva 6-2, 6-4 Sunday to win the Kremlin Cup women's tennis tournament in Moscow.

It was the Serbs third straight title, following tournament victories at the China Open at Beijing and the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix at Stuttgart, Germany.

"She's a really tough opponent," said Jankovic, who had beaten her Russian opponent in both previous tournaments. "She runs a lot of balls (but) all of my opponents this week were tough and I had to work hard every match."

Jankovic won $196,900 and become the first woman since Nicole Vaidisova in 2005 to win three times in three weeks.

Since her runner-up finish to Serena Williams at the U.S. Open, Jankovic has improved from 6-10 to 9-10 lifetime in ATP Tour singles finals.

Zvonareva was playing her 16th career singles final (7-9 record).
