Nick Price takes Senior Players lead

TIMONIUM, Md., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Nick Price shot a 4-under 66 Saturday to take the third-round lead at the Senior Players Championship, the final major this year on the Champions Tour.

Price, a three-time major winner in his PGA Tour career and World Golf Hall of Famer, completed 54 holes at 8-under 202. He is one stroke ahead of D.A. Weibring, who birdied two of this last three holes for a 66 Saturday.

Jeff Sluman, whose six-under 64 Saturday was the lowest round of the championship so far, and Gene Jones, (69) are tied for third at 204. Eduardo Romero (67), reigning U.S. Senior Open Champion and winner of the last Champions Tour event, the SAS Championship, is fifth at 205.

Fred Funk and Jones were tied for the lead at 8-under on the back nine. But Funk (72) fell into a tie for sixth place with Joe Ozaki (67), Tom Jenkins (71) and leading money winner this year, Jay Haas (69) at 206.
