SUNRISE, Fla., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- David Booth scored with 1:06 left in overtime Saturday, giving the Florida Panthers to a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Booth also scored at 11:14 in the first period for the first career multigoal game in his NHL career.

The Panthers' Stephen Weiss had a goal and an assist. Keith Ballard assisted twice while netminder Tomas Vokoun gave up two goals on 33 shots.

Before Saturday's contest, Panthers defenseman Bryan McCabe was diagnosed with a back contusion and strained lower back during an MRI exam. He suffered the injury in Florida's 6-4 season-opening loss to Carolina Friday.

Atlanta failed to build momentum after beating Washington 7-4 Friday.

The Thrashers' goals were scored by Slava Kozlov in the first and Jason Williams in the second.

Goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 35-of-38 shots, and Johan Hedberg made one save in the first period.
