TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Twelve-year-old Zachary Sharples' "Rayhawk" hairstyle resulted in his suspension from middle school, The Tampa Tribune reported.

The hairstyle, better known as a Mohawk cut, got its name because several Tampa Bay players sport the haircut as they battle in the American League playoffs.

Zachary was suspended from Lincoln Middle School in Palmetto, Fla., earlier this week because of the "Rayhawk," the newspaper reported.

Zachary said he's not cutting his hair, yet.

"I'm not shaving it off until they win the World Series," he said.

The Rays qualified for the post-season for the first time since their inception in 1998 after winning the American League East Division this season.
