Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- David Nalbandian and Mario Ancic, the top two seeds, reached the quarterfinals Thursday at the Stockholm Open.
Nalbandian recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win over Joachim Johansson and Ancic battled past Steve Darcis 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
Johansson returned to the tour this week after announcing his retirement in February because of persistent shoulder problems.
No. 3 seed Jarkko Nieminen also advanced, downing Arnaud Clement 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2.
Friday's quarterfinals will send Nalbandian against Albert Montanes. Ancic will play Kei Nishikori, Nieminen will face Oscar Hernandez and Robin Soderling will take on Rainer Schuettler.
