DANVILLE, Calif., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Maria Hjorth and Michele Redman shared the lead Thursday at the end of one round of the Longs Drugs Challenge.
Hjorth and Redman both turned in a 6-under 66 at the Blackhawk Country Club course for a one-shot advantage over In-Kyung Kim and Mikaela Parmlid.
Wendy Ward and Suzann Pettersen were among those tied for fifth at 68. World No. 1 Lorena Ochoa, seeking her eighth victory of the year, was tied for 18th with a 70.
Paula Creamer, after winning last week's Samsung World Championship, suffered a letdown and had to settle for a 74 that left her tied for 67th.
Hjorth has been a member of the LPGA Tour since 1998, but has only one victory in this decade. She has four top-10 finishes in 18 appearances this year.
Redman has won just twice in a 16-year career, the most recent of those victories coming eight seasons ago.
