METZ, France, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Dmitry Tursunov of Russia battled to a three-set victory over Paul-Henri Mathieu Sunday in the title match of the Open de Moselle in Metz, France.

Tursunov, who was seeded fifth, won 7-6 (8-6), 1-6, 6-4 over the fourth-seeded Frenchman.

The victory was Tursunov's fifth on the ATP tour.

"It was a good week for me," Tursunov said. "I started playing better and better with every match. The final was the most difficult match by far."

Mathieu, a four-time winner on tour, has not taken a title this season.

"I couldn't do much in the final set," Mathieu said. "He broke me and I couldn't break him, which cost me the match."
